Common knowledge is the independent practice of Laura Purseglove, a curator & producer operating across creative arts and research spaces to make projects which centre on ideas, place and collaboration happen.
Drawing on a background in museum and gallery programming and off-site visual arts commissioning, I have been developing creative projects which centre research and knowledge exchange since 2018. Driven by a preoccupation with the many different ways of knowing - and with knowledge transmission across diverse audiences - in my work I seek to create equitable, horizontal structures for exchange.
Although I’m always intrigued by the hard to categorise, types of work I like to do are:
Leading on the introduction of artists into projects; commissioning, developing and producing artist’s projects. Curating multi-site programmes, site responsive curating/producing.
Exhibition curation, including writing interpretation, visitor journey, designer liaison, collections work, production management.
Project design and management; structuring, managing and delivering collaborative/participatory creative research projects.
Public programme convening, live events production.
Audience research & evaluation.
